Chairman

Mr. R. K. Sinha , a graduate of Political Science and Law, started his career as a journalist and was one of the leading investigative reporters and writers of the country during the late 60's the and early 70's. Mr. Sinha served as a war correspondent during the Indo-Pak war in 1971. Mr. Sinha started the Security and Intelligence Services (India) Ltd. In 1974. Today SIS is one of the largest security organizations in the country having its operations in almost all states of India with a network of over 300 offices.

Mr. Sinha is also involved in training security personnel from Romania, Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, Mauritius, Nepal, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, China, Philippines, Singapore etc.

Mr.Sinha is the first person in India to receive “International Total Loss Control Promoter Award" from Singapore Security Association.

Currently Mr. Sinha is the Executive Chairman of the International Institute of Security and Safety Management. He is the Chairman of Central Association of the Private Security Industry (CAPSI) and Chapter Chairman of American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) for Indian subcontinent.

Mr. Sinha is a certified security and safety director of World Safety Organization, USA. He is also a visiting faculty in graduate programme in loss prevention and security at various universities.

Mr. Sinha had so far made over 100 presentations in international conferences and seminars in the past 20 years in USA, UK, France, Germany, Netherlands, Mauritius, Nepal and Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, China, Philippines, Singapore and Australia.

As a father of children who have studied in the best boarding schools in Dehradun-Mussoorie, I have sweet and sour experience of boarding school education and the type of problems faced by the children and the parents. I propose to take full advantage of my experience and shall try to minimize the problem areas. My efforts will be to make our school a home away from home for every child as also for their parents. Safety and security of children is going to be my prime concern. My knowledge of the terrain and experience of human resource management will certainly help me in my endeavour.'

Vice Chairman

Mr. Ashok Kumar Mattoo, a Mechanical Engineer has over 30 years of varied experience in Border roads, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. and Tata Steel. Since 1994 he has been an independent consultant in the field of General Management and is on the board of a number of companies. In his capacity as Director Town services with Tata Steel he was responsible for managing the municipal and other services in Jamshedpur town which has over half a million population. During this period he also oversaw the working of the Education Dept. of Tata Steel, which was managing over 30 of the company's schools with the strength of over 30,000 students.

Mr. Mattoo has been the secretary of Tata Relief committee, founder member and vice-chairman Tata Steel Rural Development Society; Secretary, Steel Workers Welfare Society; President, Jamshedpur House Building Society and a number of other societies both in his personal and official capacity.

Mr. Mattoo, also a well known sports administrator is the president of the Indian Amateur Boxing Federation and has had the distinction of leading India to its Ist SAF Games, Kathmandu in 1984, Xth Asian Games at Seoul,1986 and is now designated to lead India to the Sydney Olympics, 2000.

Married to Mrs. Renu Mattoo a well known Management trainer, he has two daughters one an MBA from XLRI and the other a Law Graduate from National Law School.

That is what Mr. Mattoo has to say : I will be committed to the cause of exploring the untapped talents amongst the young students primarily cultivating sports as an inevitable domain of education, at The Indian Public School. We will be providing sports training facilities of international standards to bring laurels to the country.

 


Principal

As a visionary and a multi facet person with unlimited capacity for hard work Dr. Sudesh Chandra Biala joined ‘The Indian Public School’ family as the Principal in April 2006. Regarding his educational qualifications, he is Post graduate in Hindi and English, awarded Ph.D ( Hindi) in 1977 and later received Degree in Education.
Starting his teaching career from Dagshai Public School, Dagshai (Simla Hills ) in 1974,Dr. Biala then shifted to The Scindia School,Gwalior and finally settled at The Doon School, Dehradun from 1983 onward. Having had a long experience of working in the premier residential schools of the country for almost 23 years in various capacities as a teacher, Head of the Department and Housemaster, he groomed himself as an enthusiastic teacher and able and disciplined leader.

His journey as Principal started from SOS Hermann Gmeiner School, Bhimtal in March,2001 which carried on to The Oxford Academy, Rudrapur, Bhavan’s Sawan Public School, N-Delhi and finally at The Indian Public School, Dehradun.

He has a passion for adventure sports. He had done his Basic and Advance courses in mountaineering with A grade from ‘Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling and The Nehru Institute of mountaineering, Uttarkashi respectively in 1982 and 1984.His performing spirit manifested in taking all kinds of risks and granting permission to a group of students and teachers to take up challenging mountaineering expeditions which they successfully negotiated. During his tenure as master-in-charge expeditions in the Doon School, Dr. Biala was successful in climbing 16 peaks of more than 20000 ft height along with his students and his fellow teachers and is proud to have the girl student climbing the highest peak ( Kedar Dome -22410 ft.) climbed by the Doon School boys.

Besides mountaineering, Dr. Biala also led Cycling expeditions of students and the teachers of the Doon School to Calcutta, Ahemdabad and Kathmandu respectively in 1985, 1986 and 1987. He also led rafting expedition which passes through the difficult terrain of Tsarap( 14000 ft. high Brandinala as the putting point) , Zanskar and Indus rivers. This expedition covered more than 360 kms. in 18 days

Dr. Biala is a sensitive writer also who has authored a good number of books. Himalaya ki ore (Hindi) is the only book on mountaineering in Hindi and was released by His Excellency Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma , the President of India in 1994, The Doon Adventure stories (English-1996), Kailash Manas ki ore(Hindi-1998), Kailash Mansarovar (Punjabi-1999), The Holy Kailash Mansarovar(English-2001) and a pageant of poems viz. Dahleej Seema Rekha Nahin released by Honorable Sh. Atal Bihari Bajpai in 1996 and also Hindi Novel- Aakhir kab Talak.Considering his all round contribution, Dr. Biala has been nominated as one of the members of Hindi Salahakar Samiti of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India.

As a Principal, Dr.S.C.Biala tries to inculcate the spirit of games and sports amongst students by playing with them and giving due importance to the sportsman spirit. His aspiration for the school and his incessant efforts to meet them will definitely help him to lead the school to the glorious heights.
